Sure, there's beers, brats and the Boys of Summer inside spring training stadiums across the East Valley. But there's a whole other game going on before and after the game at nearby watering holes.

Chicago Cubs fans sip Old Style beer at haunts like the Diamond's Sports Grille in Mesa, founded by legendary broadcaster Harry Caray. In Scottsdale, San Francisco Giants fans nurse delicious Hanger 1 martinis at the Blue Moose. The top-shelf vodka hails from northern California.

Whatever your poison, or your team, you'll want to belly-up at one of these nearby Cactus League hangouts.

Salt River Fields, Scottsdale

The spring home of the Arizona Diamondbacks rests on the Salt River Reservation and is only minutes from Talking Stick Resort. Prime up at Players Sports Bar at the resort, then hitch a ride to the Fields aboard a complimentary shuttle. About a dozen flat screens creates a Vegas sports book feel, complete will a full bar, keno and gaming machines.

Another option, and one of the best in the city, takes D-Backs fans to 4th Floor Grille and Sports Bar, located inside Chaparral Suites. Nosh on heaping Macho Tacos made with slow-cooked shredded pork, and wash it down with a local brew from Four Peaks. Ten high-def TVs put you in the mood for baseball. Scoot over to Pima Road and you'll be at the game in minutes.

Salt River Fields is at 7555 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale, 480-270-5000. Talking Stick Resort is at 9800 E. Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale, 480-850-7777. 4th Floor Grille and Sports Bar is at 5001 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, 480-949-1311.
